Reaching Water features a new site-specific installation created by Mags Harries and Lajos Héder for the CAC Gallery, a sampling of Drawn Water, the public art at the Walter J. Sullivan Water Purification Plant at Fresh Pond, and a real-time interactive link to WaterWorks , a Harries/Héder public artwork at Arizona Falls in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mags Harries and Lajos Héder have worked together as the Harries/Héder Collaborative since 1990. As a design team with extensive combined experience in public art, sculpture, urban design, architecture, and planning, they have completed major public art commissions in communities throughout the United States and abroad. In addition to the sites in Cambridge and Arizona, their water projects include permanent and temporary installations in Maine, Hawaii, Ohio, and Bronx, New York. After a tour of the Water Purification Facility Mags Harries and Lajos Héder will lead a panel discussion to explore the role of water in public art, with reference to projects by Harries and Héder in Cambridge and Phoenix, Arizona, with a live feed from Arizona.
