dimensions variable; site fixed

November 3 - December 28, 2005

Reception: Thursday, November 3, 2005, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Curated by Mary Sherman, dimensions variable; site fixed is an exhibition of local and international artists who were asked to disregard costs, technological inadequacies, and bureaucratic nightmares, and to just dream. Specifically: to dream up a new public artwork for the City of Cambridge, a city known for its support of public art. The dimensions of each artist's proposed creation could be variable - from a few inches to a dozen meters, from two dimensions to four. The constant is Cambridge, except in the case of the work of Ant Farm, an artist collective. Their video is included both for its timeliness and as homage to a group of visionaries who made dreaming a focuse of their life's work.
