FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAMBRIDGE FIRE DEPARTMENT COMPLETES ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TOYS-FOR-TOTS DRIVE
Deputy Chief Gerry Mahoney; Coordinator of the Annual Cambridge Fire Department and Cambridge Firefighters Local 30 IAFF Toys-For-Tots Drive would like to thank all who contributed to this year’s toy drive.
Toys-For-Tots is an annual toy drive started by a handful of United States Marine Corps Reservists in Los Angeles, CA in 1947.
Toys-for-Tots is a program that brings all elements of a community together for a common cause for a few weeks each year, dedicated to helping in the development of our children. Toys-for-Tots delivers a message of hope to children who have little reason to have hope for the future.
“We are proud to once again work alongside the men and women of the United States Marine Corps Reserves who work tirelessly to bring happiness to children throughout greater Boston each Christmas Season” said Deputy Mahoney. “It is heartwarming to see the dedication of the volunteers, many of whom are in their 80’s, sorting and packaging toys for delivery by Christmas morning.”
“We are especially grateful to so many businesses and organizations in Cambridge that organized collections in their locations. Draper Labs, St. John the Evangelist Church, Andy’s Diner, the Cambridge Police Department, Mt. Auburn Hospital, The CambridgeSide Galleria, Matignon High School and Professional Ambulance to name just a few.”
