Rescue #2

On 15 September 1996, the Cambridge Fire Department began service with 2 rescues. Rescue 2 was established and placed in service with a new Emergency One/Freightliner apparatus. Both rescues operate under jurisdiction of the Rescue Company under command of the Rescue captain.

Each medium-duty rescue vehicle transports patients and also carries firefighting hand tools and equipment, PPE, SCBA, hydraulic rescue tool, air bags, and air monitoring and sampling devices. Each rescue is staffed by and officer and two firefighters. The captain, 3 lieutenants, and 20 firefighters are assigned to the Rescue Company.

On 1 May 2005, Rescue #2 was placed out of service. On the same date, Squads #2 and #4 were placed in service, at the quarters of Engine Company #2 and Engine Company #4 respectively.
