My cold water is running brown?

This most likely is caused by the Fire Department during their annual fire hydrant flushing program. This program runs yearly from May through July. Let your water run for 5 or 10 minutes and the water should run clear. If it doesn't call the Water Department at 617 349-4770 or for the schedule call the Cambridge Fire Department.

What should I do if I notice a sudden drop in water pressure?

First, check to make sure the drop in pressure is in the "cold" water line. If the "hot" water shows signs of reduced pressure. Check your hot water heater. After you've made certain the problem is in the cold water line , test all faucets in the home. If pressure is reduced at all faucets in the house call the Water Department at 617 349-4770. If the pressure is specific to one faucet. Call a plumber.
