Northeast Sector Project Goal #3:

Create beautiful, universally accessible space within the Reservation

Management Strategies:

Path, Access Point and Perimeter Road Management

Creating a Reservation that is universally accessible is very important to the City and to the members of the Fresh Pond Reservation Advisory Board.  Unregulated pathways will return to their natural state in favor of more accessible pathways whic h have been integrated into the erosion control plan.  The restoration of deteriorating pathways will reduce erosion and increase Reservoir health.

Several new pathways have been created in the Northeast Sector.  These pathways--as well as other, older pathways that are being upgraded--are being surfaced with stabilized aggregate.  The aggregate surface is more porous than conventional surfacing materials such as asphalt, but will be universally accessible unlike other porous surfacing materials.
