Engineering Overview
The objective of the Engineering and Program Development Division is as follows: (1) to provide short and long term planning related to capital improvements and to implement said projects, (2) to develop and maintain accurate maps, records and other documentation, (3) to provide technical services and design and construction services, (4) to provide operations and maintenance support for the various facilities, (5) to provide program development and implementation services and (6) to coodinate planning, design and construction projects with other City departments.
New Trenching requirements take effect April 2009

Please note: Starting April 1, 2009 all trench work on public and private property must be permitted per a new Massachusetts state law. This permit is available at the Cambridge DPW and must be completed BEFORE any trench work can begin. Failure to do so, at a minimum, will result in fines.
