The Cambridge Multi-Service Center (MSC) is a collaboration of programs sponsored by the City and other community agencies to address the needs of homeless and near-homeless individuals and families in our community through direct services, planning and coordination.

The Multi-Service Center offers a broad range of services to persons who are living on the street or in emergency shelters.

For men who are homeless, the MSC offers the Carey Transitional Program, which provides case management, supportive services and rooms at the YMCA. The goal is to help men enter permanent housing at the end of their stay.

For households that are at risk of losing their housing, the MSC works to prevent evictions and resolve landlord-tenant problems through case management, advocacy and budget counseling. In addition, assistance in applying for public benefits, financial counseling, legal services, mental health and substance abuse services are available as appropriate. The MSC coordinates with the Council on Aging to serve seniors, and can help with identifying and applying for housing alternatives.

Cambridge Haitian Services is located at the MSC, and offers a variety of social services to the City's Haitian population. Services include case management, information and referral, Haitian Kreyol interpretation and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in collaboration with HAEDA (Spell out this acronym?). Immigration and citizenship assistance is available to Haitians and other immigrant populations. Clients need not be homeless or at risk of homelessness for these services.

Calling ahead for an appointment is encouraged, or new clients may come during walk-in hours, which are 9:00 - 10:30 AM Monday through Friday and 3:30 - to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday.
