  3. Area 4 Oral History Project Underway:
The Commission has recently begun an exciting new oral history project on Area 4, also known as the Port. Interviews for the project will include many of the older residents whose families came from Ireland, Greece, and from Barbados or the southern states, as well as more recent immigrants from Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Please call Oral Historian Sarah Boyer at 617 349-6171 if you or someone you know would like to participate in the project.

  4. The Historical Commission is pleased to announce the publication of its latest oral history: Common Cause, Uncommon Courage: World War II and the Home Front in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Oral historian Sarah Boyer interviewed more than 125 veterans and home front participants about their experiences during this critical time in our nation’s history. The book honors these men and women for their struggle and sacrifice on behalf of our country and hopefully speaks to a younger generation about World War II and the accomplishments of their grandparents. Available at the Historical Commission office ($25) and at local booksellers.Call Sarah Boyer at 617-349-6171 for more information. Download publication order form here.
