LUKE
A Luke machine is a single unit that replaces multiple meters. This machine can be set for "Pay & Display" or "Pay by Space". For Pay & Display the customer may park their vehicle and proceed to the pay station. The customer pays for parking at the pay station and receives a receipt to be placed face-up on the dash of their vehicle. This receipt indicates the start and end of the time purchased. Time limits are enforced by checking the receipt on the dash.
For Pay by Space, the spaces are numbered. After the customer parks the vehicle they should make note of the space number and proceed to the pay station. At the pay station they enter the space number and pay for the amount of time they wish to park. There is no need to return to the vehicle with the receipt as the time limits are enforced by checking the Luke machine. This feature is currently available in the new Main Library (Broadway) garage.
The Pay & Display Stations are located in Springfield Street - Lot 14 (8:00am - 6:00pm - 2 hr. max., 6:00pm - 10:00pm - 4 hr. max.), Windsor Street at Cambridge Street - Lot 11 (10:00am - 6:00pm - 2 hr. max.), Harvard Square - Lot 2 (8:00am - 10:00pm - 2 hr. max.) and on Church Street replacing individual street meters (8:00am - 8:00pm - 2 hr. max.). In the future the Pay & Display Meters will be placed in other locations within the City.
