About this Web Site
The Community Development web site is composed using the following products:
- For HTML coding and overall site structure, Dreamweaver 2004 from Macromedia.
- For Javascript pull down menus, Smart Menus 5.5.4 from SmartMenus.org.
- For PDF files, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional or higher.
HTML code is validated using the HTML 4.01 Transitional specification, though it is not completely compliant with that standard. For styling, Cascading Style Sheets are validated using the CSS2 standard.
Windows testing of the web site took place with Internet Explorer 6.0, Mozilla 1.7 and higher, and Firefox 1.0.1 using Windows 98 and Windows 2000. To get full use of the pages please be sure that your browser has Javascript enabled. Testing with Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 also proved largely successful; please report any problems you might experience when using Internet Explorer 5.5, so that they can promptly be corrected. Testing with Internet Explorer 5.0 SP2 found problems with pop up windows called by a javascript; otherwise the site performs as expected.
For Macintosh users the scripts perform as expected using OS9 with Internet Explorer 5.1.7. Testing with OS9 and Internet Explorer 5.0 for the Macintosh was not succesful; we recommend that users of OS9 upgrade to v. 5.1.7, the last release of Internet Explorer available for users of OS9. The scripts perform as expected on OS10 using Internet Explorer 5.23, Camino and Firefox. On Safari the scripts work, but certain font colors may change.
All PDF files used here should be compatible with all versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher. If you find any exceptions, please report them to the webmaster.
Browsing Our Pages
To view page content as intended on a Windows PC, we recommend using as a browser FireFox 1.0 or higher, Mozilla 1.x, or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. The CDD web will likely perform well with current versions of other modern browsers, such as Opera or Safari, when using Windows operating systems, though these have not been tested. On Macintosh OS10 we recommend using Firefox, Safari or Camino, though other up-to-date browsers will likely perform well. Certain combinations of Macintosh operating systems and browsers may experience difficulties when browsing the site. Netscape 4.x and other older versions of browsers will experience substantial problems.
Your Feedback
Being that we do not have the resources to test our web site in every conceivable configuration of browser and operating system, we would appreciate your feedback. What works? What doesn't work? Suggestions for adding content are also welcome. Please report any errors and broken links. If doing so, please tell us what browser and what operating system you use.
