ü  Since 2000, the number of Cambridge households owning no vehicles has increased from 27.7% to 32.2% (Census 2000, 2006-2008 American Community Survey).

ü  There are 0.92 vehicles available per household in Cambridge, which is less than 1 car per unit and a reduction from 0.98 vehicles per household in 2000. (2000 Census, 2006-2008 American Community Survey).  

 

ü  Within ¼ mile of an MBTA station 50% of households have no car (Residential parking demand near transit, CDD and TPT Departments, July 2007).

 

 ü  There was a 10% decrease in resident permits issued between 2000 and 2009.
