WHEREAS:

Armando Paolo was born on February 16, 1935 in Benevento, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1951 at the age of 16 and began work as a laborer; and

     
WHEREAS:

Armando married his wife Dorothy on February 10, 1957 and are the proud parents of three children: Rina, Angela and Linda and the proud grandparents of Michael, Christina and Daniella and great-grandparents to the family's newest addition, Stella Rosa Bonavita; and 

      
WHEREAS:

In 1971, Armando founded and opened Armando's Pizza at 163 Huron Avenue which has served as a popular destination for neighbors and friends and is a place where members of the community can gather and always be greeted like family; and 

        
WHEREAS:

Mr. Paolo's involvement in the Cambridge community goes beyond his pizzeria. Armando is an active parishioner at Saint Peter's Church, a sponsor of Little League teams and a friendly face in the neighborhood around Huron and Concord Avenues; and 

      
WHEREAS:

Known for his generosity to his community, Armando has even given food to those who have no where else to turn and while he is retired and his daughter Rina owns Armando's Pizza, he is still a frequent visitor, talking to longtime customers and neighbors; and

 
WHEREAS: Armando enjoys time with his family, Sunday dinners, spending time with friends in the North End, playing cards, bowling and traveling to his hometown in Italy. Armando has never forgotten where he came from and is a dedicated and active member of the Cambridge community; now therefore be it
    

ORDERED:

That the City Council dedicate the corner of Huron Avenue and Concord Avenue as Armando Paolo Square; and be it further 

    

ORDERED:

That the City Clerk be and is hereby requested to prepare a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution for presentation at the Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, October 16, 2010 on behalf of the entire City Council.
