Public Works Construction Projects: M.G.L.c.30,39M governs all contracts for construction, reconstruction, alteration, remodeling, or repair estimated to cost more than $10,000 that does not include work on a building. These contracts generally fall into the category of public works projects, or "horizontal construction" projects.
Public Building Construction Projects:M.G.L.c.149,44A-M governs all contracts for the construction, reconstruction, installation, demolition, maintenance, or repair of a building. For projects less than $10,000 Purchasing uses sound business practices. For projects $10,000 to $25,000 Purchasing will post a notice for two weeks and receive written responses. For projects $25,000 to $100,000 Purchasing will receive sealed bids using M.G.L.c. 30,39M procedures which includes advertising in the Central Register. For projects over $100,000 Purchasing will receive sealed bids using M.G.L.c.149,44A-M procedures.
It is the Contractor's responsibility to make certain they have received any/all addenda relating to their bid prior to the bid opening date.

Except in the case of Construction bids requiring a plan deposit, all City of Cambridge bids are available for downloading from the City of Cambridge website with no required registration process. As a result, the City accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the bidder's list.

Effective immediately, until further notice, the City of Cambridge will not require bidders and subcontractors under the bidders for construction related services to maintain or participate in a bona fide apprentice training program as stated in Section 2.66.080 (A) (3) of the Cambridge City Code.
All other sections of the Cambridge Responsible Employer Plan, the Cambridge Employment Plan or other applicable laws remain in full effect and will continue to be requirements of all bids for construction related services.
