ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs miscellaneous manual tasks requiring the highest degree of skill in the maintenance and care of recreation areas, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds; performs journeyperson level carpentry and masonry duties; performs grounds maintenance duties; plants, seeds, rakes, fertilizes and grades, cuts, waters and trims fields and park areas; performs skilled mechanical repair on power mowers, tractors, and other equipment; constructs and repairs chain link fences, benches, grandstands, playground apparatus such as see-saws, slides, and swings. Performs other general duties such as painting, flooding skating areas, trimming trees and bushes, setting up and lining athletic fields, operating motor equipment in connection with such duties and other related manual duties. May supervise a small crew of workers at a lower skill level such as laborers, helpers, and maintenance persons.

A minimum of 2 years demonstrated work experience in maintenance & care of recreation areas, athletic fields, parks & playgrounds. Massachusetts Commercial Drivers License Class B is required. Department of Transportation medical certifications may be required of applicants pursuant to the Teamsters Local 25 collective bargaining agreement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All labor positions, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled in the Cambridge Department of Public Works require a combination of: lifting between 25-200 pounds, bending, squatting, stretching, pushing, dragging, and pulling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee will be exposed to all weather conditions and will work in a moderate to high noise level environment caused by sound of machinery or powered equipment being used. May be exposed to strong odors during the course of work. Employee is required to adhere to all safety and dress code policies.

RATE: $ 20.43 - $27.90 per hour + excellent benefits (Rate will increase 7/1/19 by 2.5% COLA)
