ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Learning Center (CLC) empowers a diverse community of adult learners to transform their lives and realize their potential through education, skills development, and community participation. Students are predominantly low-income Cambridge residents, come from a variety of ethnic, linguistic and racial backgrounds, and are currently enrolled in English, Adult Basic Education, or training. The Math, Assessment, and Technology Coordinator possesses deep knowledge of K-12 math content, curriculum development, and instructional design; supervises and supports math teachers; coordinates standardized assessment for ABE students; and leads technology innovation and planning. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting and creating a community that actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Math Coordination 

  • Teach ASE (Adult Secondary Education) math to a diverse group of students at a 9-12 GLE, employing multimodal instruction
  • Stay abreast of changes to the Math HiSET, and explicitly prepare students for the Math HiSET
  • Develop and/or revise scope and sequence, instructional units, and lesson plans in alignment with the College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Supervise 2-3 math teachers and support math staff in their professional growth in alignment with the CLC's mission and values
  • Convene math team meetings and provide support to math staff members across the CLC
  • Evaluate research in math curriculum and instruction and convey trends to math instructors
  • Ensure math instructors and students have educational resources to be successful

ABE Assessment Coordination

  • Be responsible for the administration of MAPT and TABE-L assessments for the ABE Department
  • Stay current with and adhere to all ACLS testing policies
  • Work with the ADA Liaison to ensure that appropriate test accommodations are provided for students with disabilities
  • Analyze assessment results and evaluate trends

Technology Coordination

  • Lead technology innovation and planning for the CLC in collaboration with the technology team
  • Serve as a liaison to city IT Department staff
  • Provide technical support to CLC staff

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of math teaching experience
  • Strong math content knowledge
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Excellent organizational and technology skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of methods and materials used in adult basic education and the Math College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Certification in TABE-L and MAPT administration
  • Experience analyzing data and communicating trends
  • Bilingual/bicultural
  • Experience with racial equity work

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  There is extensive computer use.  Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.  Ability to answer telephones and maintain multiple files. Ability to lift and carry up to five pounds of books and papers. Job requires evening work.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: General office environment with fluorescent lighting

RATE: $29.82 per hour (anticipated COLA beginning July 1st); this is an 11-month appointment with salary pro-rated over 12 months with excellent benefits
