ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director/Teacher, the Teacher Coordinator helps Lead Teachers and Teachers achieve high quality programming in five critical areas: curriculum, classroom management, behavior management, child assessment and family engagement. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a resource to all staff to design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum which builds off of children's interests.
- Help the Director/Teacher ensure that the curriculum enhances the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children while also adhering to the Massachusetts EEC learning guidelines NAEYC, QRIS, and DHSP program standards.
- Support the Lead Teacher's and Teacher's ability to implement child centered curriculum through participation in on-going curriculum planning meetings. Support the individualization of curriculum to specific children's needs through participation in Team Meetings.
- Support staff's creation and maintenance of a classroom environment that is conducive to children's learning and to their feeling of competence and achievement.
- Support staff in establishing age-appropriate behavioral expectations for each child and the group with the goal of building children's self-control, self-reliance and independence.
- Support staff to complete child assessments three times per year, including the collection of portfolio materials, child assessment checklists, narrative summaries and parent-teacher conference notes.
- Support staff's communications with parents/guardians by offering various approaches to developing positive communications in difficult situations. In the absence of the Director/Teacher respond to parent/guardian concerns about the program that Lead Teachers have not been able to successfully address.
- Support Director/Teacher in the writing of staff evaluations for teachers twice a year and substitute teacher evaluations as needed.
- In the absence of the Director/Teacher, oversee site operations, ensuring that all NAEYC, EEC, QRIS and DHSP regulations and requirements are consistently and fully followed.
The Teacher Coordinator is also responsible for the following tasks:
- Assist the Director/Teacher in preparing for EEC licensing and quality initiatives (QRIS) as well as maintaining various site records required by EEC licensing regulations and DHSP policies (PQR, children's files, teacher files and attendance records).
- Assist the Director/Teacher in preparing for NAEYC accreditation renewals, annual reports and maintaining various site records required by NAEYC accreditation.
- Assist the Teacher/Director with administrative tasks, including but not limited to planning and coordinating field trips, overseeing the menus and food orders, purchase of supplies and submission of weekly timesheets.
- Create and distribute a monthly calendar/newsletter as well as communicate curriculum plans to parents as a way to keep them apprised of program activities and events.
- Attend all staff and parent meetings as required.
- Complete the training requirements yearly as per EEC, NAEYC, QRIS and DHSP requirements.

- Be at least 21 years of age
- BA required, MA preferred
- Have a strong working knowledge of and experience with EEC regulations and NAEYC accreditation, QRIS, as well as developmentally appropriate practices.
- 2 years' experience working as a Lead Teacher
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently required to sit, talk, walk and hear and occasionally required to run during play or responding to an emergency. Employees are frequently required to engage with children on the floor and at their eye level. Frequent use of hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects is required. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move a child. Vision ability required for supervision of children. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment includes classroom, outdoor playgrounds and occasional field trips. Noise level is moderate to very loud.
RATE: $47,771-$58,150 annually + excellent benefits
