ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible professional supervisory position requiring expertise and experience in assessment of real property.  Work requires evaluation of complex and unusual circumstances, variations in approach, and ability to work with available data in the field and in the office.  The assessment analyst reports directly to the Deputy Director of Assessing. Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with staff training and data quality control
  • Conduct property inspections and enter data into the CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal) database;
  • Review overvaluation abatement applications and make recommendations with appropriate documentation;
  • Perform review of values to ensure compliance with Department of Revenue requirement of full and fair cash values;
  • Review deeds and oversee sales verification forms, noting subdivisions and property information discrepancies
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in real estate appraisal or assessing data collection and value review.  Computer proficiency with Excel, report writing and CAMA software.  Experience with a CAMA system process or single property appraisal required, working knowledge of the Vision Appraisal Technology is preferable. Must have good mathematical, communication and customer service skills. Must be able to work in the field that requires moderate effort to conduct inspections. Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and personal motor vehicle are required.  The City of Cambridge's workforce, like the community it serves, is diverse.   Applicants must have the ability to work and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:     Physical ability to perform property inspections throughout the City of Cambridge.  Work involves frequent site visits, requiring travelling to and through congested city streets, driving, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and stretching. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Work involved is both indoors is in a professional office setting and outdoors inspecting property sites under all weather conditions.

RATE: $59,193 – 72,081 annually
