ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Commissioner of Inspectional Services or their designee, the Project Coordinator/Environmental Health is responsible for developing and implementing programs and policies related to environmental health issues in the City of Cambridge, particularly focusing on vector control, primarily rodents, and will contribute to policy discussion around other environmental health issues as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Coordinator/Environmental Health will lead public outreach to residents and businesses on rodent issues, as well oversee the City's Rodent Control Taskforce. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates with other staff at Inspectional Services, Department of Public Works, and the Cambridge Department of Public Health, develops and formulates programs, policies, and procedures related to rodent control throughout the City.
- Manages City rodent control contracts and budget, assist in managing vendors related to rodent control, etc.
- Compiles and analyzes data for weekly, monthly, and annual reports, and manages database for citywide rodent control.
- Process applications and provide customer service related to the City's Private Property Rodent Control program.
- Attend Rodent Control Task force and other community meetings as required.
- Develops monitoring and evaluation systems to assess rodent control efforts.
- Serves as case manager for persistent rodent issues and respond to complaints received by the department on rodent control issues.
- Serves as a liaison to the City Council and responds to public inquiries related to rodent control and other related health issues.
- Contributes to policy discussion around other environmental health issues, including but not limited vector control.
- Attends to other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum three (3) years' full-time work experience in the fields of communications, law enforcement, or building/sanitary codes (or equivalent part-time experience).
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local integrated pest management (IPM) and related environmental laws and regulations; IPM techniques and methods; and environmental health sciences as well as their application in resolving environmental health problems.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and related work experience.
- Familiarity with rodent issues in an urban environment.
- Ability to learn new regulations, new technologies and systems, new software.
- Ability to set priorities and to work independently and efficiently to manage individual responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously, and interactions in a fast-paced office environment while remaining attentive to accuracy of work.
- Superior customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills; strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with essential software (Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment with air-conditioning and fluorescent lighting, combined with field visits requiring traveling throughout the City. Exposure to all weather conditions and noise when making site visits to various projects and activities. Field visits will require personal means of transportation. Some occasional lifting, pulling, pushing, squatting, and reaching. Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer. This position may be eligible for hybrid work under the City's new Telework Policy, depending on operational needs. RATE: $78,287-$100,431 annually + excellent benefits
